Winter in Slovakia is a time for skiing, snowboarding; the winter sports with a long tradition and high popularity among the locals and tourists.

Winter is also a time of Christmas markets traditionaly having their place in town squares which, for the entire Advent month before Christmas turn into colourful Christmas bazaars.

Squares filled with stands selling handmade gifts of leather, wire or wood, embroidered textiles and untesils, let alone the delicious local delicates, among them the Austro-Hungarian apple strudle, grilled sausages, all sorts of loksas, mulled wine and medovina - the honey liquer.
