Wine tasting, majolica pottery and bio farms
WINE TASTING
Out of the six viticulture regions the most exclusive is Tokai, bordering on Hungary, and the most popular are the Small Carpathian vineyards lined with charming wine cellars; a traditional and inseparable part of the accomplished Small Carpathian wine route.
Back in the 18th century a local wine known as Frankovka was a favourite of the Austrian-Hungarian Empress, Maria Theresa.
As for wine seasons, it is traditionally celebrated in the autumn, a time when the wine-makers celebrate the end of harvest where the first wine is excellently matched with the local goose delicates; the goose feast.
Another wine-festival time is in May, time to celebrate the patron of wine and its makers, St Urban, largely associated with presentations of wine and regional traditions.
MAJOLICA
The development of various crafts in the past brought up pottery as one a mostly outstanding among them, closely connected to the wine-making tradition of Bratislava surroundings and the Small Carpathian region where the majolica and wine making tradition have thrived till the modern day as part of the local particularities.
BIO FARMS
For culinarists and bio enthusiasts, there is an opportunity to visist Slovak bio farms and local salashes famous for the traditional sheep cheese-making. Get the taste of local specialities and find out what bryndza, ostiepok and zincica mean. After you make your own cheese and taste some more traditional meals, you are welcome to participate in live horse/oxen-driven cart show.

Small Carpathian wine route
Duration: 6 hours
The wine growing tradition is manifested by folk lore, culinary delights and best wines of the region and includes:
- The Castle of " Cerveny kamen"
Visit to a charming renovated castle (former property of the Fugger and Palffy family), Museum of Antique Furniture, "Golden Eagle" Pharmacy and Cave „Salla Terrena", cellars - gigantic and unique in Central Europe, serving as a transit point of goods and storehouse in the 16th century.
Downtown sightseeing, visit to a private ceramic workshop joined with a pottery presentation, opportunity to craft yourself a vase and purchase famous ceramics-majolica at best prices.
Wine tasting - 4 sorts of excellent Little Carpathian wines. Snack refreshment included.
